To begin, we would have to look at why you were taken. The purpose of a kidnapping is to gain leverage to extort someone of immense value. The kidnapper would likely seek someone deeply loved by the one who is to be extorted, most likely a child as the term "KID napped" reveals. A child or loved one that could not grab the heart and willingness of the extorted, would be of no value to the kidnapper. The more value of the kidnapped individual, the higher the payout for the kidnapper.
To repeat the question, "What you are worth if you were kidnapped?" You may have thought about who would pay and how much they had to offer for your release.
Consider this, Jesus was sent to be our ransom. That means we were held hostage by the enemy of our souls and the power of sin that ran through the earth at the fall of man. We were kidnapped. Then we consider the cost of that ransom. It was God's beloved son. That means that his greatest value, Jesus, would be the price that would need to be paid. The value of this exchange is often incomprehensible in our minds as God Himself was willing to risk it all for us. Leading us into the final thought: How much are we worth? Everything!
The greatest challenge is not the humbling of this reality, but accepting the value he actually placed on us. One of the greatest challenges is that many would rather remain under the power of the kidnapper as they cannot accept that they are worth the price. This was clearly declared in the book of Acts as to why the Jews would not accept Jesus and the price he paid.
"Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, "It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged YOURSELVES unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles." Acts 13:46 NLT
When we begin to see our true value, the worth of His sacrifice, and the free gift of life as an heir of Father and Son. We not only become accepting of His promises, but begin to see others in light of how the Father views them and His desire to see them restored into His family.
Take a moment today and ponder what the cost of the sacrifice was for you. Allow your value to exponentially increase in the Father's passionate love towards you.
